Working hours are too long and people are not spending as much time as they should with their families or on leisure activities. What is your opinion on this issue?
In today’s globalized world, the age at which individuals are considered adults varies greatly from one country to another. While some nations allow young people to take on adult responsibilities at the age of 18, others set the bar at 21 or even higher. In my opinion, the age of 18 is the most suitable for being considered an adult, as it aligns with the biological and psychological maturity of individuals and allows them to take on important responsibilities.
Firstly, at the age of 18, most individuals have reached physical and cognitive maturity. They are capable of making informed decisions about their future, such as pursuing higher education, entering the workforce, or starting a family. Additionally, at this age, young people are more likely to have a better understanding of the consequences of their actions, making them more responsible when it comes to driving a car, voting, and getting married.
Furthermore, setting the age of adulthood at 18 provides young people with the freedom to explore their potential and contribute to society. For example, in many countries, 18-year-olds are allowed to vote in elections, allowing them to have a say in the governance of their nation. Similarly, being able to drive at this age enables them to become more independent and participate in the economy by commuting to work or pursuing further education.
On the other hand, setting the age of adulthood at 21 or higher may hinder the development and participation of young individuals in society. It could delay their ability to make important decisions about their future and limit their contribution to the economy and society.
In conclusion, I believe that the age of 18 is the most appropriate for being considered an adult. It aligns with the biological and psychological maturity of individuals and allows them to take on important responsibilities. By setting the age of adulthood at 18, young people are given the opportunity to explore their potential and contribute to society, ultimately leading to a more engaged and empowered citizenry.
